Express Bus 783 - Henri Coanda Airport - Bucharest (city center)This is an express bus line, operated by RATB (public service) that runs between Henri Coanda Airport and Bucharest city center (Piata Unirii). This bus line is a 24h/day service. The journey usually takes about 45-50 minutes either direction. If it is a rush hour, then the journey could easily take more, even 1.15h.
TicketsThe tickets are, in fact, magnetic cards. Tourists mostly use the blue card named Multiplu. A card for 2 trips costs 7 lei + the cost of the card 1.6 lei. You can't buy a card with only 1 trip, the cards are issued with minimum 2 trips and maximum 10 trips. This type of card is not rechargeable and you can use the trips together with your friends or family. There is another type of card called Active but that one is mostly used by residents, because it can be recharged with several types of tickets. When you travel from Henri Coanda Airport to the city center you can buy this card from the automatic vending machine or the ticket booth located exactly in the bus stop. The bus stop is downstairs, on the ground floor, near the entrance to Domestic Arrivals (from International Arrivals, go downstairs and follow the signs to get to Domestic Arrivals and then exit the building). When you travel from Piata Unirii to the airport, there is a ticket booth exactly in the bus stop. Map Piata Unirii is the end of the line and from there you have connections with the Metro (Lines: M1, M2, M3), buses, taxis, etc.
When you are travelling from Henri Coanda Airport to the city center the bus stops are: 0. Aeroport Henri Coanda (Airport - Arrivals Terminal) 2. Aeroportul Henri Coanda ( The bus stop is on DN1 road, near the entrance road to the airport) 13. Piata Victoriei (Victory Square - Metro M1, M2 / Bus connections) More information about the bus timetable and the route here.
When you are travelling from the city center to Henri Coanda Airport the bus stops are: 0. Piata Unirii 2 (bus terminus, Metro M1, M2, M3 / Bus connections) 4. Arcul de Triumf (Arch of Triumph - Bus connections) 14. Aeroport Henri Coanda (Airport - Departures Terminal) More information about the bus timetable and the route here.
Note: You must buy the card before you get on the bus because you can't buy the tickets from the driver. If you are already in Bucharest, note that some of the bus stops along the route may not have ticket booths, so better buy this card in advance. To validate your trip after you get in the vehicle, look for a small orange box with a blue LCD screen on it. Touch the indicated area on the orange box with your card and you will hear a short beep indicating your trip was validated. A long beep means there was an error and you need to try again. If you forget to validate your trip, you can be fined with 50 lei (approx. 11 euros) For more information about the 783 Express Bus timetable or route, please visit: www.ratb.ro and choose 783 Bus from the left menu.
Info: Between Bucharest North Train Station and Henri Coanda Airport you can also use the Express Bus 783 by combining the bus with the Metro system. (Last update 14 June 2015) Useful informationWebsitewww.ratb.ro/v_bus_expres.php
